WITHIN OUR CHURCH
Hosts and ushers have responsibilities during services greeting and assisting visitors.
A praise band plays contemporary Christian music at the 9:00am contemporary service, The Altar. Music at the 11:00am traditional service features hymns sung by a choir accompanied by piano.
Assists with sound and slide show for Sunday morning services.
Organizes and prepares food for various church functions.
Wednesday Night Kitchen Team
Prepares the weekly Wednesday night dinner.
Decorative Flowers Team
Creates and displays floral arrangements to decorate the church.
Creates artistic tapestries and banners for the Sanctuary building.
Creates ornaments that reveal Christian symbols during the Christmas season.
Missions and Maintenance Days (M&M Days)
M&M Days are biannual church work days in April and September that involve cleaning and repairing the church facilities as well as undergoing projects to assist church members.

Inter-Faith Council for Social Services (IFC)
Mount Carmel regularly donates food to IFC’s Food Pantry as well as prepares and serves a meal at IFC’s Community Kitchen on the third Saturday of the month 9:45am-12:30pm.
CROP Hunger Walk – an annual walk in the Spring that raises funds for Church World Service and IFC
Project 5,000 – an annual project in April that collects food for IFC’s Food Pantry

Food for the Summer
Mount Carmel supports this program that delivers free and reduced lunches to Chapel Hill/Carrboro school children for the summer.
Mt Carmel Community Garden
Mount Carmel grows a garden to donate produce to various local food security programs. In season, every Tuesday 8:00am-11:00am is a garden workday, as is every Thursday 5:00pm-7:00pm.

Mount Carmel regularly collects material donations for prisoners at the Orange County Correctional Prison and leads worship with them twice a year.
Women on Mission Group
This group meets on the first Monday of each month at 10:30am in the Fireplace Room. They schedule monthly projects serving various charitable organizations and programs in our community. Some of the projects include providing meals and collecting supplies for the SECU Community House and the Ronald McDonald House as well as CORA Food Pantry. They also provide gifts and supplies to HomeStart families. Every June they host the NC Men’s Dental Bus at Mount Carmel. In December, the group participates in the Women’s Missionary Prayer Breakfast. The group has voluntary $5 monthly dues that are put towards providing financial support for select missionaries, the Global Mission Offering, Women’s Missionary Union of NC, and the Baptist Children’s Home.
Nancy Williams Hundley Group
This group meets on the second Monday of each month at 2:00pm in the Fireplace Room. The group supports a different mission every month, including providing supplies for the Baptist Children’s Home, providing diapers for the Pittsboro Women’s Shelter, serving monthly dinners at the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill, serving refreshments during the annual Yokefellows meeting at the Orange/Alamance prison, and hosting Mount Carmel’s Prayer Breakfast in December. In the summer, the group supports CORA Food Pantry’s summer snack program.
College Care Packages
Twice a year in April and November the church sends care packages to college students for encouragement.
Every December, a basket is made and delivered to shut-ins in our community.
Busy Needles/Prayer Quilts
This group meets Thursdays at 10:30am in the Craft Room to create blankets and clothing for those in need in our community.
Mount Carmel hosts a grief support group year round with several special sessions throughout the year.
A group of care givers for adult loved ones who meet monthly for fellowship and support.
The annual Murdoch Day at Mount Carmel in May is a day of festivities shared with developmentally disabled adults from the Murdoch Developmental Center in Butner.
The church prepares and delivers meals to the surrounding community every Christmas Eve.
Holiday Toy Drives
Toys are collected for local children every holiday season.
The church hosts BBQs open to the community every year in March and November.
The Country Breakfast
The church prepares an annual breakfast in February open to the community along with a bake sale.
American Red Cross Shelter
The church building is certified for use as a shelter in the event of a disaster.
