Samantha was born and raised near Chicago and loves how different North Carolina is from the Midwest since moving here in 2023. If you see her out and about, she is probably with a dog, if not with her own pup. Beyond that, Samantha loves to cook, especially Italian food. Katie Donoway

Preschool Director

Katie is a Durham native, a mom of 3, and the director at Preschool of the Warm Heart in Chapel Hill.  Her path to preschool directorship has been about timing.  Time as the daughter of a preschool teacher, watching the magic unfold as we worked to turn my mom’s classroom into a winter wonderland.  Time teaching precious 2-year-olds developing curriculum and nurturing the littlest learners.  Time as a preschool advisory board chair running successful fundraising campaigns, helping to develop protocols, and supporting teachers.  And finally, a time of transition - as her oldest child heads off to college, she recognized that it was time for me to take on a new role and Katie is very grateful to be doing just that at Preschool of the Warm Heart.
